The Delhi Mumbai Industrial Corridor (DMIC) stands as a testament to India’s ambitious infrastructure development plans, aiming to transform the economic landscape of the country. Stretching over 1504 kilometers, the DMIC runs along the Western Dedicated Freight Corridor (DFC) from Dadri in the Delhi NCR to Jawaharlal Nehru Port (JNPT) near Mumbai. Passing through six states – Uttar Pradesh, Haryana, Rajasthan, Gujarat, Maharashtra, and Madhya Pradesh – the DMIC is set to become the first industrial corridor of its kind in India.
At the heart of the DMIC lies the vision to create a globally competitive environment for industries, boost manufacturing, and generate employment opportunities. The corridor is strategically located, connecting two major economic hubs of India – Delhi and Mumbai – and passing through regions with high growth potential. This strategic positioning opens up avenues for seamless transportation of goods, fueling trade and commerce along the corridor.
One of the key components of the DMIC is the development of industrial areas and townships, designed to attract investment and foster industrial growth. The project includes several industrial areas such as the Dholera Special Investment Region (DSIR) in Gujarat, ShendraBidkin Industrial Area (SBIA) near Aurangabad in Maharashtra, and the Integrated Industrial Township in Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh. These areas offer a conducive ecosystem for industries to thrive, with state-of-the-art infrastructure, supportive policies, and access to a skilled workforce.
